Not everything that writes is a ballpoint. Alongside the classic printed pen, this site brands gel pens, highlighters, permanent markers, message pens and just about anything else with ink in it. Printed Pens is part of the PromotionsOnly group, based in Lane Cove, Sydney, a group that has sold more than 20 million writing instruments across over 15,000 jobs since 2003.

The everyday workhorses

The backbone of the site is the cheap plastic pen, ordered in the hundreds and thousands for handouts, counters and conference tables, with metal pens stepping in where a little more weight in the hand is wanted. From there the range widens into the categories most pen suppliers treat as an afterthought: highlighters, the kind the NSW Department of Education ordered for its people, gel pens like those supplied to Anglicare Victoria, and message pens, the ones with a rotating banner inside the barrel, which Douglas Hanley Moir Pathology chose for getting more than a logo across.

Brands people already trust

We also print on the names you know. Sharpie markers for anything that needs to survive a warehouse or worksite, Paper Mate and Uni-ball for everyday writing quality, and BIC for the pen everyone recognises before they read the barrel. Branding a known pen borrows a little of its reputation for your own logo.

Sourcing depth

Behind the site sits more than 1,500 standard writing instruments, and beyond that our group's sourcing office in China gives us factory direct access to over 20,000 pen styles. Standard production is two weeks, faster options exist on many lines, and if you can only describe the pen you once saw at a trade show, describe it to us and we will hunt it down. You can also check any pen in hand before ordering via our samples policy. Promotional resellers are welcome, with trade pricing available on application.

Our story

PromotionsOnly was born in a Sydney home office in 2003 and did something unusual for the industry at the time: it put every price on the website from the day it opened. Offices in North Ryde and then Lane Cove followed, where the business has been since 2005, and its specialist sites now cover most of the promotional products a business could ask for, with writing instruments among the very first categories it ever supplied.

Where we lend a hand

For over 15 years this business has donated monthly to WWF, Sea Shepherd, Médecins Sans Frontières, World Vision, sponsoring two children through them, and Monika's Doggie Rescue in Sydney. The Humpty Dumpty Foundation has received product at our cost or donated for more than a decade, and registered charities receive a discount off the prices shown on the site.

Here is the thing about a branded pen: it never stays with the person you gave it to. It gets borrowed, pocketed and passed along, and your logo goes with it. Twenty million pens into this trade, we think of every one as a small travelling advertisement, and we make sure it writes well enough to keep travelling.
